STV looking for talent

STV’s The Hour show launches ‘Talent on Tour’

STV’s live daily show, The Hour, is launching a Scotland-wide talent hunt. The team are looking for the most talented people, young or old, across the country as part of their exciting new Talent on Tour feature.

Over the next few weeks, presenter Vicky Lee will be touring Scotland to uncover some of the best, brightest and quirkiest unknown talents that Scotland has to offer.

Whether you have the voice of an angel, you’re a budding child star, a contortionist, a magician or have better moves than Fred Astaire – The Hour team wants to see your act.

The Talent on Tour team will be visiting Glasgow, Aberdeen, Inverness, Edinburgh, Ayr and Dundee and the following venues and times have been confirmed so far:

• 12pm, Tuesday 21 July at Silverburn, Glasgow
• 12pm, 23rd July at Bon Accord St Nicholas, Aberdeen
• 12pm, 3rd August at Arran Mall, Ayr
• 12pm, 6th August at Ocean Terminal, Edinburgh

Further details will be announced shortly on The Hour website.

Highlights from the tour will be shown weekly on The Hour throughout summer.

Vicky Lee, chief talent scout for The Hour, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for the talented people of Scotland to show off on the telly! We’re hoping to meet a whole range of people with weird and wonderful talents – there are no restrictions, the only requirement is talent. Who knows, we might find the next Susan Boyle. So come along and strut your stuff – you never know, you might go down a storm.”

What happened to the web site?

I don't know how closely you've been looking at the web site, but some strange stuff has happened since I last looked here.

Firstly, some updates that I'm sure I put on line have just gone away. That was the "what our next show will be" stuff. No idea where that went...

The other was that our "Latest Blog Updates" went away. Now this is actually quite clever stuff.

Our blog is hosted by Google. Our web site is hosted by 1and1. When you come to the home page, a little program running on the web server asks Google for the latest blog updates, picks out the interesting bits, and then shows them on screen.

Unfortunately, Google has changed the way it gives us back the latest blog updates. It's changed from RSS to Atom. Which means that the code that used to look "here" for certain information has to look "there" - where "there" is somewhere different from before.

So i think I've now got it working, though I am aware that I'm missing a date for blog posts. That will come soon, I hope!

Social and Brain Storming Evening - 05-Jun

This came from Mandy - I think it's a great idea and hope to be there. Please come along and join us!

A few of us got together after the AGM and decided it was time for positive action. Therefore, we'd like to see as many SABOS members as possible in the TAPPIT HEN DUNBLANE, from 9pm on Friday 5 Jun, to chat, see each other, and brainstorm some ideas for FundRaising activities and Social Gathering plans for the coming year.

All ideas welcome, and even if you haven't thought of any yourself, please please come along and help us flesh out the ones I'm sure everyone will be having! If you need to contact us for more information, I can be reached on 07910 524333, or mandy.milly.molly@gmail.com, and can pass along any ideas or opinions!

Wizard Of Oz in Dunfermline - September 15-19

Anyone fancying a night out in September could do much worse than going to visit our friends in Dunfermline, The Limelight Productions. Not only are they putting on The Wizard Of Oz, but they are the first amateur company to be performing in The Alhambra Theatre.

The Alhambra used to be a theatre, then it became a cinema in the 1920s, then it became a bingo hall. Now it's been reclaimed as a theatre, beautifully refurbished, and is now one of Scotland's largest theatres. So it's well worth a visit!

Limelight is a new company, who are putting on some great shows and establishing themselves as an innovative and exciting company on the Scottish amateur musical scene.

Look forward to seeing you there!
